Cairo / Dahabiya Nile Cruise Trip11 Nights / 12 Days

Overview

This ‘off the beaten track’ trip has some wonderful experiences like cruising on a luxurious Dahabiya (sailboat) with just a few cabins on board, visiting the rarely seen tomb of Queen Nefertari in The Valley of the Queens, visits to the medieval architectural treasures on El Moez Street in Old Cairo, the newly opened Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor, the Nubian Village in Aswan, and the night-time light show at Abu Simbel. And there’s more! Dahabiya: Sail like a Royal Imagine gliding along the Nile in a beautifully appointed sailing yacht with only a few cabins, eating gourmet meals on deck by candlelight, and exploring small villages, islands, and ruins where larger cruise ships can’t go. These are called Dahabiyas. The boats are two-masted sailboats with no engines, completely dependent on the wind and current, and were the traditional method of travel for royals in ancient Egypt. During the Cruise sailing, you will be visiting the famous monuments in Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan; and because of different schedules, these beautiful monuments can be visited at a time of the day without crowds. You’ll also get to explore El Kab, the ancient city with Old Kingdom tombs; and Gebel el Silsila, where the cliffs on both sides close to the narrowest point along the Nile. You’ll explore the Egyptian countryside, visiting secluded picturesque spots and farms, and have a chance to interact with local people. You’ll dine like royalty on the Dahabiya. The chef creates amazing meals using fresh supplies delivered each morning from local markets and farmers along the river. When conditions allow, we may dine under the stars at a beautiful spot on the banks of the Nile.
